(The Humanitarian Social Network)
I know people have photos of all sorts of foods. And we tend to have some competitive spirit amongst us. Your prize is bragging rights and you and your photo featured in the foodies section. I am very much looking for photos so that I can remove the fried fish one that denotes our group and the Teamhouse Kitchen right now.
How to participate:
Attach your fave foodie photos under this discussion thread and members can 'vote' for the photo by hitting reply under your response and saying: this gets my vote.
You can vote as many times as you like for different photos and I will go for the photos that get the most votes.
Edit: This was going to have a deadline attached to it but let's keep it going as photos are coming in and we are LOVING IT!
Really looking forward to seeing the gems people have! Stories with photos very welcome.

Permalink Reply by Zehra Rizvi on March 12, 2012 at 1:52pm Oi, Karen! Where are the photos? I want to see! I love food but am a terrible photographer so need my fix from others....xx
Permalink Reply by Karen Hampson on March 14, 2012 at 7:19am sorry, sorry! They were coming up huge and I couldn't see a way to make them smaller, but here are a couple: first one me tucking into meal in restaurant in Inner Mongolia, pick up your thin sliced meat and dip it in the soup long enough to cook it. Eat faster than your colleagues or there will be nothing left... enjoy! I did!
second photo, from a feast prepared for me by farmers up a mountain in Yunnan, China, note sliced pigs ears in the left foreground,and rice wine being poured to the right of the shot;

This gets my vote.

Permalink Reply by Karen Hampson on March 26, 2012 at 5:08am It does look good- could you explain to the ignorant (ie me) what exactly constitutes "Buddhist" food?
Permalink Reply by Karen Kilberg on March 26, 2012 at 5:26am It means it is completely vegetarian and only certain vegetables are used and they aren't supposed to be cooked because that would harm the plant (although some were cooked in here I believe). They also aren't supposed use any spices or seasonings (not sure why exactly), so the food is meant to be bland - hence the "it looked far better than it tasted" part ;)
Not sure how accurate that all is, but that is just what the monk told me.
Permalink Reply by Zehra Rizvi on March 26, 2012 at 9:43am It probably followed some Ayurvedic/Macrobiotic type principles....nice one. Will have to look up Bhuddist principles around food. Am on this nutrition course where I go through 100's of dietary theories and haven't come across this one yet. THANKS for posting!

Permalink Reply by Karen Hampson on March 26, 2012 at 5:07am Is that a big hit of raw onions in there too? Love the fact newspaper is actually used in this way! Looks good - and well done for having presence of mind to take a photo before sinking your teeth in!
