I wasn't looking forward to trying to find somewhere decent to live in PaP but was lucky enough to have someone point me in the direction of a young man who had recently helped them find an apartment.

We gave him our criteria and within 24 hours he got in touch to say he had some options to show us. He picked us up and took us to each of the places and we're about to sign a lease on the third place we saw. He also took us to some places he recommended for picking up bits of furniture etc we might need. Sure, the owners of those places may well be providing their own token of appreciation to him for bringing in custom, but at the end of the day, the places he took us had what we needed, at prices we are happy to pay, so I think everyone wins.

He's not an official agent, and as I understand it, his "listings" are a combination of places he sources through agents and places he hears about through his own network.

Like agents, he charges half a month's rent as a finder's fee. I'm not sure how many official agents provide the additional support that this guy does, tho.

I don't really want to put his phone number out into a public forum (not without asking him first, anyway) but if anyone wants to get in touch with him, send me a message and I'll link you up.

Cheers

Robyn

Oh PaP...no different from any place at the end...it IS about who you know (In Pakistan right now, and sometimes it feels like who you know is the only way to get anything done here!)

Haha, you got that right and well if you don't want to get ripped off and be charged with everything times ten, its best you go out with a local. At least once.

Actually we are in the market - can you send me his number please, so we can try?

Thanks!

Hey Angela,
is there an e-mail address or something I can sent it to?
