I'm signed up for e-tan and have read a few books about Timor-Leste but none that really wowed me.  Do you have any suggested reading to learn more about Timor?

A Dirty Little War - Australian Journalist John Martinkus is back and forth into Timor in the years up to 99. AMAZING book.

Also check the CAVR report 'Chega!'. This is the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission. Very well set out, easy to read (in terms of structure - some of the material is harrowing). There's about 10 chapters so you can pick what interests you. Available in English, Indonesian and Portuguese. You should be able to find separate chapters as pdfs online. Google it

Best

You may also like to find a copy of Negligent Neighbours which gives a good political insight into the US, Australian and NZ support of Indonesia against Timor-Leste

for latest official circulars i go to this site http://timor-leste.gov.tl/?lang=en
