It is our hope that WhyDev will help address the knowledge and participation deficit across the development space, which undervalues the incredibly diverse and deep experiences, knowledge and perspective of students, graduates and young professionals

Comment by Weh Yeoh on September 20, 2012 at 1:10 Welcome to the AidSource WhyDev group! I bet you're wondering "What is this group all about?". Great question!
We think this is a space for people who "get" the WhyDev message and appreciate our mission - "to provide a collaborative and participatory platform for individuals passionate about development, aid, and other global issues."
We want to foster a community where you are not shot down by older and wiser heads in the aid community for simply having an opinion (ie the opposite of pretty much every LinkedIn group out there). We want to hear from you, whether you are just considering a career in development, whether you have had just a few years experience in development, or whether you are Madonna. Ok that last bit was a joke.
But the point remains, we try and promote a platform that is non-judgemental, snark free (relatively), and one that fosters respect, inclusivity, and thoughtfulness.
We'll be using this group to further some of the discussions up on our blog (check out the feed on the blog above for starters) and to get groups together in the future for special purposes. We're new to Aidsource, as I'm sure you all are, so we'll be making it up as we go as well!
Stay tuned for more news and thanks for joining our group!
