A Brief Update From the AidSource Admins

Dear awesome members (you),

Just a quick note from us to you to let you know a bit of what's going on in AidSource lately.

The main thing to be aware of is that two of the admins (Alanna and J.) have lost family members within the past few days, and the third (Shotgun Shack) is slammed with an unusually busy summer work season. What this means is that we'll be keeping lower than normal profiles here on AidSource (as well as our other online projects such asStuff Expat Aid Workers Like) for a few weeks. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

This means that we'll be relying on all of you to keep things rolling here: Keep those discussion groups vibrant, keep 'liking' things on Facebook and tweeting blog posts, pages, etc., in here that you like, and (for goodness sake) keep inviting your friends to join if they haven't already.

We'll continue basic maintenance and administration such as approving new members (see next point), creating new groups as requested, and responding to offers to moderate new discussions.

Second, as you may have noticed we've change AidSource signup so that we have to individually approve new members. This seems like the very best way to avoid the spambots that seemed to have plagued us a few weeks ago. Again, thank you for your understanding.

Finally, we're nearly to the point of being ready to release our advertisement policies and rates. If you offer a good or service to the humanitarian world that you or your employer would like to promote on AidSource, we will have space for that. Watch for this announcement soon-ish (realistically, by the fall).

Once again, thank you all for being awesome members. We'll see you soon.

J., Shotgun Shack, and Alanna
