More and more donors are asking INGOs and local NGOs to design and implement small grants schemes as part of the grant they receive. Other charities are choosing to give funds to other organisations from their own income as part of their activities.

This is a remarkable shift for many organisations, from recipients of aid to being donors themselves. In a series of posts I will explore key questions that are helpful to consider when setting up a small grants scheme, highlight other tools available on the web and also explore the inherent tensions in INGOs and some local NGOs becoming donors themselves.
